The beginning of August is the traditional date of Lammas or Lughnasad, the festival of First Harvest in the Celtic Solar Year. To mark this occasion, the MCPA welcomes Bonita Blumenauer into its core membership.
Bonita brings a wide range of experiences in both art media and local, community-based spirituality to our collective cauldron of knowledge.
For decades, she has been exposed to and involved with many groups in the local Pagan community and with organizations such as In The Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater, the Church of All Worlds, Covenant of the Goddess, Twin Cities Pagan Pride, Paganistan/Reclaiming, Earth Conclave, and the Walker Community UMC Church.
Bonita combines her work as priestess and artist to seek a place beyond the gallery experience, where art is the heart of the active exploration of ritual performed by and for community.
"As a priestess and artist, I am a co-creator alongside a community of co-creators within the Heart of Mystery-- both in large public rituals and in opportunities for private communion. I see myself, and those I join with in workings, as storytellers using image and ritual experience to further mythic understanding."
We are excited to have Bonita join us and are looking forward to our future collaborations! For more information about her works and vision, please visit Bonita's profile.
