I’ve been a professional artist, teacher & healer for over 40 years. I graduated from the Chicago Academy of Fine Art with a BFA in 1972. I lived in Chicago for 25 years, during which time I was an active member of the art community, co-owned 3 galleries, showed in numerous art venues & developed my craft. I also founded the Center for Creative Awareness, a center for spiritual & creative exploration. I moved to Minnesota in 1994.
For me, art is sacred & about healing. My spirituality & creativity are not separate, one feeds the other; they go hand-in-hand. When I create, a part of my awareness steps aside, allowing the spirit of the piece to guide me as I work. The result is a piece that expresses a more sacred & magical quality. The vibratory energy of color is an ancient method for healing—one that was used in the mystery schools in ancient Egypt, Greece, Mesopotamia, Atlantis & Lemuria. The colors, textures of materials, design patterns, etc, echo subtle radiations, which bring about a shift in the psyche of the viewer. In this moment, art can open doors to the Unknown & reflect the Sacred that lives within each of us. I find nature, ritual, & the Sacred Feminine inspiration for my art, bringing me to a closer connection with my innate sacredness.
I see interfaith as a ‘coming together’—a communion of souls, so to speak, seeking a common goal; the goal of Universal Truth, Love & Peace. We come together at this time of the Summer Solstice to celebrate the movement of the sun’s highest expression of Light & to acknowledge all that we have attained through our inner growth. From this point on, we begin moving away from this pinnacle, retracing the steps of our soul’s annual journey toward the quiet sanctuary of the Winter Solstice.
